Pyramids
In Garston No obsolete Egyptian structures these: Go inside And you wont find Nerfititi, Tutankhamun or Rameses And all their worldly goods piled high; NO, what you'll see Are three prisms of glinting glass Cooly reflecting sky, And which contain Something akin to paradise: a panoply Of all things natural, Rare and beautiful: mosses, lichens, Flowers, trees; birds, bees And butterflies - ................... and all this here, Where wanton dereliction used to be; Where Mersey waters knew Nothing beyond a vast neglected loneliness Broken only by The odd abandoned car or two, The remnants of a late-night take-away. Why here? you ask. Why not? I say. What better use, what better place than this: Pyramids in Garston. So close your eyes. Imagine it. Make it come true. |
